Director:  Andy Fickman

Rated:  PG

Run Time: 110 minutes

Age Recommendations:  5 and up

Main Characters:  Joe Kingman, Peyton

Plot:  A famous football player, who lives in his own world of football and luxury, and is concerned solely for himself, finds out he has a daughter.  Joe’s world is turned upside down as he tries to care for a little girl and advance in his career.

Theme:  Overcoming selfishness and becoming a good example in your children’s eyes.

Good Points:

  • It leaves you feeling good when the movie is over.
  • Kingman’s relationship with the dog is hilarious.  The dog definitely steals the show.
  • You can watch it with your entire family.  There is something for everyone.

Downfalls:

  • The story and climax are predictable.
  • It’s a little heavy on the stereotypical satire.

Buy/Rent/Skip:  Buy this movie, it is exceptional.  Anyone who wants an excellent family film, buy this movie.  Once you watch it, you will find yourself watching it again and again.  You won’t be disappointed.

The Game Plan (Full Screen Edition)

  • In this hilarious and heartwarming family comedy, one of the sport’s toughest players ever takes on his biggest challenge yet — fatherhood! A superstar with an ego bigger than a football field, Joe Kingman (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) is getting ready for a run at the big championship game when the 8-year-old daughter he never knew existed shows up at his not-so-family-friendly bachelo

Studio: Buena Vista Home Video Release Date: 08/15/2008 Run time: 110 minutes Rating: Pg”When you look at me, what do you see?” pontificates football star Joe Kingman, then provides the answer: “Greatness.” Well, clearly an ego like that needs to be brought down to size–pint-size. The winning family comedy The Game Plan has a whole lot going for it, including star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who’s a natural comedic actor (and the camera loves him), and the young actress (Madison Pettis) who p

Electronic Banking Monopoly

Electronic Banking Monopoly

Monopoly (game)

Image via Wikipedia

Manufacturer:  Hasbro

Price:  $39.99

Age:  8 and up

Difficult Rating: Moderate

Favorite Features:

  • Using a debit card eliminates the paper exchange and saves time.
  • Setting up the game was a lot easier and flowed more smoothly.
  • Updated version has modern places like Times Square and Disneyworld with a higher payoff and salary.
  • New chance and community chests cards were fun and entertaining.

Inconvenient Features:

  • To determine the winner you have to add up all your properties, mortgages, etc.
  • It is still an extremely long game even if you divvy out the properties beforehand.
  • If you were the banker, you would be sliding cards frequently and might not be as enjoyable as if you were a regular player.

Recommendations:  If you have younger kids, the card is the way to go.  No hassling with money, it is stored in the card. It takes just as long to play the entire game from start to finish, but is so much more convenient.  One recommendation would be to have a banker just be the banker because he gets so busy and it makes it run smoother if that is his only job.  It was a great game, but just a little pricy for what you get.

Monopoly Electronic Banking

  • Having your own personal bank card keeps play fast and lets you check your cash in an instant
  • Keep your finances at your fingertips with Monopoly Electronic Banking and 6 cool bank cards
  • The fast-dealing property trading game goes high-tech with an all-new electronic banking unit
  • Store millions with a swipe of your bank card as you stack up transactions, track cash and collect properties to win
  • Comes with gameboard, electronic banking unit, title deed cards, chance and community chest cards, 6 bank cards, 2 dice, 6 tokens, 32 houses, 12 hotels and instructions

  • The children love it when it bucks.
  • Moderately interactive with the other players.

Inconvenient Features:

  • Lots of pieces to keep track of.

Difficult Rating:  Moderate

Favorite Features:

  • It involves every player at any given time.
  • The curses are fun and the more creative you get with them, the more fun you will have.
  • Excellent for a party or just a warm-up for any event.
  • Ensures hours of good, clean fun.
  • The rules are simple and straight-forward.

Inconvenient Features:

  • If you get too many players, it can drag.
  • It can get a little too rowdy.
  • It doesn’t have an expansion pack or second version of cards, because if you play it a lot, the cards get a little old.

Recommendations:  This game was very fun. After a player completes a challenge card they can give a curse card to a player of their choosing.  When you are cursed you have to do whatever your curse card tells you, like you can’t bend your elbows, or something like that.  You can have more than one curse card at a time and it gets a little crazy.  It brings the shyest person out their shell.  A fun game for any occasion or just a lazy Saturday afternoon.
