Plot: Coach Brooks is determined to build a hockey team that will beat the best hockey team in the world, the Russians. He starts with a team that has difficulties with each other. They learn to overcome those differences and play together as a team representing the United States.
Theme: Work hard, Work together, United we stand, and you can overcome the odds.
Good Points:
- The history and conflict with the soviets adds depth to the story.
- Did an excellent job of capturing the mood of the nation as they went to the Olympics.
- The camera shots during the game were smooth.
- Husband and Wife stick together.
Downfalls:
- Kurt Russell’s accent is irritating and not very believable.
- The theme is predictable and has been done over and over.
- Some of the dialogue was too cheesy.
Buy/Rent/Skip: Rent: an excellent feel good movie and a great choice for a family night in.
